Alabama Power reverses tax on solar facilities

In April 2024, SREA filed an Application for Reconsideration and Modification opposing Alabama Power's imposition of an "Integration Cost" on qualifying facilities, which essentially served as a tax on solar facilities. SREA's objection stated that Alabama Power didn't have the evidence to support the increased levels. It ultimately passed. But, this week, SREA learned that Alabama Power reversed their decision, citing that a new study doesn't support the need for a charge and that the fee would discourage the development of renewable power.
